Arsenal £40m For David Alaba

Arsenal are ready to break the bank to sign £40m rated David Alaba from Bayern Munich reports the Daily Cannon.

Alaba, 24, featured in the European Championships for Austria this summer, but couldn’t prevent them from being knocked out at the group stages. Alaba was moved from full back to central midfield for his country during the tournament. The Bayern Munich man is a regular starter for the Bundesliga champions and is thought to be rated at no less then £40m.

Alaba gave a very intriguing interview earlier in June to the Evening Standard in which he revealed his support for the Arsenal “Invincibles” side and how Patrick Vieira was his idol when growing up.

“In the first place, Patrick Vieira. What a player! He inspired me through his presence, his style of play, his strong personality. I was a fan of Arsenal, who dominated everything around 10 years ago.”

“I only had eyes for Vieira. Our styles don’t resemble each other particularly but in this position he’s an example, notably in his way of imposing himself in duels.”

Alaba came through the Bayern youth system and is one of the most sought after youngsters around at the moment, while his ability to play left back and as a central midfielder would be invaluable to Arsenal. However, Alaba signed a new deal with the German giants in March which runs until 2021, so Bayern are unlikely to waver on the hefty £40m price tag.

The Gunners kicked off their summer with the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Mochengladbach for a fee of £34m. Since then however they have tried to lure Jamie Vardy to the Emirates, after activating his £20m release clause Arsenal were unable to tempt the Leicester and England forward into a move to North London.
